ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari Friday signed the 2016 Appropriation Bill into law about six weeks after it was first passed by the National Assembly.
The brief signing ceremony took place at the State House, Abuja.
Present were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
Others present were the Ministers of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma; Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Presidential Aides on National Assembly, Ita Enang (Senate) and Samaila Kawo (House of Representatives), as well as the APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.
Prompt News recalls that President Buhari declined to assent to the budget when it was first passed, asking for the details.
However, when the details were sent, he discovered discrepancies from what was sent and the copy passed and thus returned the budget to the National Assembly for the second time.
It will be recalled that President Buhari laid the 2016 budget before a joint session of the National Assembly on December 22, 2015.
