By: Gracious Akujobi The Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria (APFON) has commended the management of the Nigeria Nation Wide League for its resolve to ensure comprehensive and compulsory insurance package for players.
In a letter of commendation signed by APFON Executive Secretary, Austin Popo and made available to Prompt News Online, the body said initiative would ensure “the security of Players Health and Welfare through the compulsory comprehensive Insurance of Players plying their Trade in the Nation Wide League by Clubs”.
According to Popo, “The Insurance initiative by the NNWL shows creativity and concern for the Health and Welfare of Players who are the major actors of the Game.
“In the Game of Football, the most important thing is always the Player, and there should not be any form of compromise on our focus for their Health and Welfare.
“This is exactly what the NNWL has demonstrated through the Insurance initiative as the largest League in the country occupying the base of the Football Pyramid Structure”.
He therefore, enjoined the management of the various clubs participating in the league to support the initiative, saying “it will guarantee Players confidence and performance”.
