Godwin Kingsley, Lafia Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, on Monday announced the suspension of the state deputy governor, Damishi Luka-Barau, from the party.
The state Interim Chairman of the party, Standly Buba, told newsmen in his office in Lafia, that his suspension followed a recent interview the deputy governor granted journalists in Abuja.
According to him, “the party faulted Luka-Barau over his comment in faulting the decision of the National Executive members of the party that its members at the national assembly should not sign any bill sent by the President.
“Why is he as a member of the party going against the decision of the national leadership of the same party that brought him to power”, Buba queried.
The party’s Interim Chairman said the decision of his suspension came through the party’s supporters in his ward, Ningo ward from Akwanga local government area of the state.
He explained that the state interim committee members of the party first received a letter from interim executives of his ward informing them of their decision to suspend the deputy governor from the party.
Buba added that the party will set up a committee to investigate the deputy governor’s action.
“If the outcome of the committee indicts Luka-Barau, we will not have any other option, other than to expel him from the party”, he said.
Reacting on the matter, the Director of Press in the Deputy Governor’s office, Danjuma Joseph said, “I am not in official position to say anything, unless I get the permission of my boss”.
He continued, “after all he is not in the country, he is in America on an official assignment, this thing was done in his absence”.
