In contrast to the positions of the three political parties out of 18 that participated in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections calling for the outright cancellation of the exercise, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to continue with the process.
Speaking at a crowded press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the APC PCC Spokesman, Mr. Dele Alake, said those who are calling for the cancellation of the Presidential election results want to abort Nigeria democracy, stressing that the Commission is duty bound to bring the exercise to its logical conclusion.
Alake who was flanked at the event by other members of the APC PCC Media Team like Festus Keyamo, Femi Fani-Kayode, Abike Dabiri among others, insists that APC has won the Presidential election and therefore condemned the call by other political parties led by the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and new kids on the block Labour Party for INEC to cancel the election.
Alake who berated PDP and LP for calling on INEC to cancel the elections, saying that it is too late to stop the process now, also lashed out at the former President Olusegun Obasanjo for the press statement he released on Monday where the elder statesman faulted INEC on the way it has handled the election so far.
Alake who is the Media Adviser to APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu also alleged that some people are calling on the youth to embark on protest, warning the youth not to listen to such calls, adding that they should be wary of another war in Nigeria because war is not good to anybody.
