Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara, says that the Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola-led APC government alive and doing well in Osun.
Abdulrazaq, who was the Chairman of Osun Governorship Primary Election Committee, said this while submitting the committee`s report on the recently- conducted primary election to the party leadership, on Wednesday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the primary election saw Gov. Oyetola emerging the APC standard bearer for the governorship election, slated for July 16.
NAN also reports that the report was received by Sen. John Akpanudoedehe, National Secretary, APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) on behalf of the chairman, Gov. Mai Mala Buni.
Abdulrazaq, while submitting the report, said Osun government and APC were doing well, judging from the massive voters’ turnout and the peaceful conduct of the primary election as well as the infrastructural and human capital development in the state.
“The roads are superb. We saw bridges and schools being constructed, with massive human capital development.
“Incidentally, I made enquiries on the federal allocations and I discovered that there used to be a deduction of about N2.4 billion monthly, which has now reduced with slightly over N1 billion monthly.
“Another N70 billion has been repaid in loans by the state government. So the state is on the right track,” he said.
Abdulrazaq said that the outcome of the primary election had shown that the state government was in touch with the people, adding that Nigerians should visit Osun to see things for themselves.
According to him, Osun is arguably the most peaceful state in the country, after Kwara.
He said that the primary election committee saw it as a privilege to have been appointed to undertake the exercise on behalf of APC.
“We also saw it as a huge challenge, seeing the press and social media reports on the happenings in Osun before and after being given the assignment.
“I am glad that, as chairman of the committee, I had very strong support from my team and they were up for the challenge.
“It seemed like a walk in the park, but a lot of work was done,’’ he said.
Abdulrazaq expressed happiness that the committee was able to deliver a credible primary election to the satisfaction of the people of Osun.
Akpankudohede, while receiving the report, thanked the committee for undertaking the assignment on behalf of the party.
He particularly thanked Abdulrazaq for his humility in agreeing to leave his responsibility as Kwara governor to serve the party.
“We are indeed very thankful and grateful. We have read and heard that Your Excellency and indeed, the entire committee, did a fantastic job; you represented the party well.
“The character that you exhibited is as a result of proper and classical upbringing.
“This you have exhibited in the administration of your state and the assignment you have undertaken on behalf of the party in Osun. We are indeedvery grateful,” he said.
Other members of the committee, which had Sen. Julius Ucha as Secretary, are: Sen. Ibrahim Oloriegbe, Abdulkarim Abdulraman, Wale Raji, Mrs Yetunde Imolehin and Mr Ofonmbuk Bassey. (NAN)
