The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed Feb. 1 for its primary election for legislative by-election in Cross River, Imo, Ondo and Plateau.
This is contained in a timetable for the by-election released by Sen. John Akpanudoedehe, National Secretary, APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) on Tuesday in Abuja.
Akpanudoedehe said that the timetable was in accordance with the provisions of the amended Electoral Act 2010 and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.
“The APC has released its timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of the 2022 concurrent legislative By-Elections across four states of the federation,” he said.
He listed the constituencies to include -Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in Cross River State, Akpabuyo State Constituency in Cross River State, Ngor-Okpala State Constituency in Imo and Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency in Ondo State.
“Others are Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Plateau and Pankshin South State Constituency in Plateau,” he said.
Akpankudohede said notice of election to the party’s state chapters would made available on Tuesday Jan. 18, while sales of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms commenced at the APC National Secretariat same day.
He said the last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents was Monday, Jan. 24, at the party’s national secretariat.
The APC scribe said screening of aspirants would hold on Wednesday, Jan. 26, while publication of claims and objections would be on Friday, Jan. 28 and screening appeals on Sunday Jan. 30 while election appeal would hold on Thursday, Feb. 3.
“The Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the House of Representatives positions cost N3, 850, 000.
“For the State House of Assembly positions, the forms cost N850, 000, female aspirants and physically challenged aspirants will pay 50 per cent of the prescribed fees for each positions,” he said.(NAN)
