There are indications that the controversial National Convention of the embattled ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), may yet hold on Saturday, March 26, 2022 as the party on Tuesday in Abuja finally bowed to pressure by recalling Governor Mai Mala Buni to his original position and also put a fee on the various vacant positions to be contested by candidates.
This is even as the National Chairmanship aspirants will pay a whooping N20m each for nomination forms as aspirants for the office of the Deputy National Chairman will pay N10 million while other positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party will attract N5 million each.
Meanwhile, after a week of the leadership crisis that rocked the party, APC has bowed to the order of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as Governor Buni-led Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has once again taken full control of the party secretariat in Abuja.
Prompt News Online reports that CECPC Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, who has been loyal to the embattled Chairman resumed work at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Also at the Secretariat were the aides of the chairman, who is yet to return from his medical tourism abroad.
The party has been embroiled in a leadership crisis for some weeks ahead of its national convention slated for March 26.
Addressing newsmen before he left the APC secretariat, Akpanudoedehe said: “There is no trouble, no crisis in our party at all. I have released a statement which will be made available to you now.”
The statement has not been released as at the time of filing this report.
