ABUJA – For the third time since he returned from an extended medical vacation in the United Kingdom, President Muhammadu Buhari, was again, absent at the weekly Federal Cabinet meeting today (Wednesday).
Last week, he was absent and the meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, with few ministers in attendance.
Briefing State House correspondents after the meeting last Wednesday, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said Mr. Buhari needed more time to rest
He added that the President would be working from home as he had directed that files be moved from office to his residence for his attention.
Prompt News reports that Mr Buhari has not been attending public functions since he returned home from the UK on March 10, 2017.
The last time he was sighted in the Presidential Villa was a couple of weeks ago attending the weekly Jumat prayer.
There is anxiety in the land as members of the Cabal around the President have refused to disclose his state of health, fuelling speculations that Mr. Buhari’s health may have indeed, deteriorated.
Recall that Mr Buhari was said to have received briefings from the Attorney General of the Federation and NNPC Boss, Abubakar Malami and Maikanti Baru, respectively on Tuesday.
Prominent Nigerians, pro-democracy and civil society activists have called on President Buhari to declare his state of health. Others have asked the Senate to declare the Office of the President vacant since the occupier, Mr Buhari could not discharge the functions of his office.
