In a bid to galvanize every segment of the society towards making the Anambra state Governorship Election a successful exercise, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is this morning holding a Stakeholders’ Meeting with traditional and religious leaders at Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center Auditorium in Awka.
Also attending the crucial meeting are civil society organisations, women groups and the leadership of political 18 parties contesting in the Anambra governorship election among others.
Presiding over the meeting is the INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu who arrived Awka, capital of Anambra state Tuesday, shortly held a closed door meeting with the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng E. Echeng.
Professor Yakubu will also on Thursday attend the Peace Accord ceremony, where all the contesting candidates of the 18 Political Parties will commit themselves to peace in writing.
Already, the Catholic Archbishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah has arrived Awka ahead of the Thursday event. He was on the same flight from Abuja with INEC boss.
