Defending champions, Aspire FC Adazi-Ani on Tuesday advanced to the semi final stage of the 2022 Anambra FA Cup after defeating Global FC of Onitsha 2-0.
The competition, sponsored by NEROS Pharmaceutical Ltd., also saw Nnewi United FC of Nnewi book their place in the semifinals following a 2-0 triumph over Emmy King FC of Nsugbe in another encounter decided on Tuesday.
In other quarter-final games, Peace FC of Awka ran away with a lone goal victory over DOSAD FC, Enugu-Ukwu, while All Stars FC of Ogbaru pipped Galaxy of Onitsha by the same margin to make it to the semi-finals respectively.
Rev. Fr. Obinna Dike, Director of DOSAD FC who spoke after their game, congratulated Peace FC for their victory and wished them well as they progressed to the semis.
Dike who is the Chairman of Anambra Independent Football League (AIFL) said his team did well but lost to another good team.
“DOSAD football club congratulates our AIFL brothers Peace FC for their win today over us.
“We also congratulate our team for putting up a good fight, we wish Peace FC success in their next match,” he said.
In the semi-final pairings released by Chijioke Onyedika, Secretary of AnSFA on Wednesday, Peace FC will square up against Aspire FC, while All Stars Ogbaru will slug it out with Nnewi United FC.
Both matches will be played at the NEROS Stadium, Nanka near Awka on June 7. (NAN)
