Tanzania will make their first Africa Cup of Nations appearance in 39 years after the Taifa Stars defeated the Cranes of Uganda 3-0 in their Group L encounter on Sunday at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
The side tutored by Nigeria coach, Emmanuel Amuneke opened scoring through Simon Msuva with a fine finish in the 21st minute of the explosive encounter.
Erasto Nyoni put the home team in firm control of the game when he converted from the spot six minutes after the break to make the scoreline 2-0.
The Taifa Stars put the beyond the visitors when they netted their third goal of the game through Aggrey Morris three minutes before the hour mark.
In the group’s other fixture, Cape Verde and Lesotho battled to a 0-0 draw in Praia.
Tanzania finished in second position in the group with eight points behind table toppers Uganda who have already secured a place in Egypt 2019.
Lesotho ended in third position in the group with six points from six games who finished in last position with five points.
Tanzania last appeared at the 1980 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Nigeria.
Amuneke was a member of the Super Eagles side that conquered the continent at the AFCON finals in Tunisia.
He scored both goals for Nigeria in the 2-1 win against the Shepolopolo of Zambia in the final.
