Former Super Eagles Head Coach Shuaibu Amodu has advised players of the senior national team, Super Eagles not to allow the recent furore over their winning bonus distract their quest to winning a fifth world cup ticket for the country.
Amodu who spoke to sports writers in Abuja, said the players should accept the $5,000 winning bonus and ensure that they qualify for the world Cup holding in Brazil next year.
“It is not all about the money; it is about winning a qualification ticket for the country. There is none of our players that is not above that amount, I would want to advice them to look beyond that money and ensure that they win the ticket”
“The money would surely come if they excel. After all, Nigerians showered them with various cash gifts when they won the Nations Cup in South Africa. I am sure that Nigerians would do more for them if they qualify for the World Cup and do well in competition proper”.
Amodu also confirmed that he has not been fully engaged by the NFF, as the Technical Director of the National Teams. The former Harambee Stars of Kenya coach said, “I have not been fully engaged. There are still some grey areas that are yet to be sorted out.
“I have told them that before I resume, they must get me a car and a decent accommodation here in Abuja. I am coming for a very serious job, and would need all the concentration to do the job” he concluded.
