By Paul Efiong As elections draw closer in the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, a Chairmanship aspirant for the Abuja Municipal Area Council(AMAC) under the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Ishaku Tanko Yamawo has promised to embark on massive socio-economic activities that will lead to development.
Speaking while declaring his intention to contest for the chairmanship position in AMAC on Wednesday, the chairmanship hopeful expressed determination to offer indigent students scholarships, stressing that education remains the bedrock of every civilized society.
Yamawo also promised to address the problem of indigenous people whose government policies have not favoured in recent past owing to incessant demolition of their properties without due compensation by the government as stipulated in the existing laws in the territory.
The aspirant, who said he has contested for the chairmanship position in AMAC for four consecutive times further claimed that he is more qualified than other contestants, stressing that his years of political experiences had taught him vital leadership lessons on how to lead people effectively.
He said that his government would make education and infrastructure available to the people.
Also, the aspirant promised to establish skills acquisition centres for the people to acquire knowledge and receive the required assistance in order to be self-employed.
Also speaking at the event was the APC chairman in AMAC, Abbas Baba, who expressed optimism that his party would emerge victorious in the forthcoming council elections.
The party chieftain further called on the electorate to cast their votes for his party, insisting that the PDP has failed to satisfy the electorate all these years.
