ABUJA – By Paul Efiong. Senate President Bukola Saraki, his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and two others have been granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
They were arraigned Monday morning at Court 32 before Justice Halilu Yusuf, for alleged forgery of Senate Standing Order.
Also arraigned were the former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa, and Deputy, Benedict Efetubiri.
The four defendants are to produce two sureties each who must have landed properties in the Asokoro District of Abuja.
The case has however been adjourned to July 11, 2016.
Prompt News Online recalls that some APC Senators had petitioned the Inspector General of Police, alleging that Saraki and Ekweremadu, forged the Standing Order otherwise known as Senate Rules that was used to elect the current Principal Officers of the Red Chamber.
