The Final burial ceremony of the Former Governor of Ondo State, Late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu commenced on Thursday with an open crusade.
The open crusade tagged “Ondo State Total Recovery crusade was held at MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure.
In his sermon, Apostle Sunday Ayodele Popoola, who spoke from the book of Acts of Apostles, chapter 28 vs 1-6, emphasized on divine protection and favor in the face of adversity.
Referencing to an incident where Paul was bitten by a venomous snake, the Cleric said the Paul remained unharmed, which serves as a powerful symbol of God’s presence and intervention in difficult times.
He said the message derived from the passage emphasized “the idea that even in the midst of mourning and loss, God’s protection and favor are still present for those who trust in Him.”
While speaking, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa commended Late Governor Akeredolu’s family for the crusade organised in honour of the erstwhile Governor, adding that many lives have been saved through the crusade.
“We learnt from the life and times of Late Governor Akeredolu, he occupied himself with God’s given tasks in his life journey, he lived a purposeful life and he fulfilled purpose in God”.
He noted that “Late Governor Akeredolu had ran his race and finished his course.
Aiyedatiwa also reiterated his service to the people of Ondo State, assuring that will complete the projects started by Late Governor Akeredolu for the development of the people.

In attendance were; Late Governor Akeredolu’s family, Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, Secretary to the State Govenrment, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Traditional rulers, former members of the State Executive Council, Ondo State House of Assembly members and top Government functionaries.
It would be recalled that Late Governor Akeredolu died on the 26th of December, 2023.
