Arsenal Football Club could have their first summer signing in the bag after CSKA Moscow and Nigerian international Ahmed Musa admitted that he would love to play under manager Arsene Wenger.
The Super Eagles captain has also confirmed that Premiership leaders, Leicester did indeed make a bid for him in the January window which was reported to be around £19 million.
Musa, one of the biggest stars in the Russian Premier League and made a name for himself after grabbing a brace against Argentina during the 2014 World Cup.
The 23-year-old, who has £23 million release clause, is still believed to be a target for Leicester while Manchester United and Southampton have been credited with showing interest.
But Musa has revealed that Arsenal would be his preferred choice of club, adding that he is a huge Gunners fan thanks to iconic man Nwankwo Kanu.
Speaking to Champion at at the weekend, he said:” Interest from clubs?. What club?. I do not care!
” But Musa has to play, you know. I cannot sit on the bench. So, l will have to go to the Premier League club that will believe in me.
“I would be happy if l was wanted by Arsenal. I have supported the team since the age of six. Nwankwo Kanu has been my idol since childhood. It will be fantastic to play forArsenal.
“I will not hide it – Leicester actually came to our. But l repent that l want to finish the season with CSKA to help them win a Championship, and then think about changing club”.
Whether Wenger decides to make a move for Musa remains to be seen, with Gunners short of firepower in the attack.
