For the third time in eight years, Imo State electorates are in quagmire over who will lead them in the new dispensation following the inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the winner of the state’s Guber Election of last Saturday, March 9.
Confusion erupted last night at the INEC headquarters at Port Harcourt road, Owerri after the agents of some of the political parties fought openly over disputed results with one of them tearing what was suspected to be a result sheet.
With the pervading charged atmosphere, INEC unexpectedly suspended further announcement of the Governorship results in Imo. No statement has been made on the next line of action by the electoral umpire.
But before the INEC put the release of Imo State results on hold, five parties are in the running to win the race. The leading parties are the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Action Alliance, Accord, APGA and APC.
