By Gracious Akujobi President of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Tijani Umar has said that the national basketball team D’Tigers will resume camping next month ahead of the qualifiers for the 2015 Afro Basketball Nations tournament.
Speaking to Prompt News in Abuja, Umar, explained that the Federation is currently compiling list of players who will be invited to camp adding that home base players will first resume before their oversea based counterparts join up later.
“We are making plans as regard next years’ championship; soon we will be calling players to camp. We are only waiting for funds before we determine the exact date to kick-start the camping program.
“Already, we are speaking with National Sports Commission, (NSC) and I believe that latest by next month camp will resume”
The championship which is at its 28th edition will have Tunisia and Cameroon as hosts for the continental tournament for both men and women.
The winners of AfroBasket 2015 and AfroBasket Women 2015 will qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The teams which finish second and third will compete in FIBA’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for Men and Women for the remaining three berths on offer.
