Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has said only top quality players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will be invited to the Super Eagles.
The Portuguese has been widely criticised for neglecting local players since assuming the role.
Peseiro named only one local player, Olorunleke Ojo in his final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 63-year-old said he is willing to give home-based players chance in the team but they must merit it.
He also debunked claim he has preference for the foreign-based players.
“I have not said that no player in the local league can play for the Super Eagles, but I need to see if you have the qualities and capacities to play,” Peseiro told a press conference in Abidjan. READ ALSO:
