To ensure that everything is in place for the best ever African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final slated for Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, 2022, the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Inspectors are currently visiting the five host cities to inspect the facilities to be used for the competition.
Among the facilities being inspected by the inspectors are stadiums, hotels, hospitals and
axillary facilities relevant to the delivery of the competition which will feature 24 countries for the first time in the history of the event.
A reliable source in Cameroon told Prompt News on Wednesday that the Inspectors from CAF are still in Cameroon as at the time of this report, adding that from what is on ground they are satisfied with the condition of the facilities they have inspected.
“As we speak today (Wednesday), CAF Inspectors are here in Yaounde, Cameroon and they are going round to see the improvement in the facilities which will be used for the AFCON next year. I can confirm to you that they are satisfied by their body language.
“All the stadiums, hotels and medical facilities to used are ready so we are looking forward to January 2022 for the kick off dat”, the source told Prompt News on telephone chat.
According to the source the Local Organising Committee (LOC) is working round the clock to deliver the best AFCON ever as there is nothing suggesting that it will be anything less glamorous.
Nigeria and 23 other countries including host, Cameroon and the defending champions, Algeria are set for the football fiesta.
