The Nigeria Football Federation under the leadership of Amaju Melvin Pinnick, has said it has absolute believe in the abilities of the present Super Eagles squad piloted by Big Boss, Stephen Okechkwu Keshi, to qualify for the Nations Cup next January.
NFF Vice President, Seyi Akniwunmi made this declaration while addressing players and officials after Wednesday evening training at the Package B of the Abuja National Stadium, otherwise known as FIFA Goals Project. “We have absolute believe in this team and the technical crew and we are certain that we will not only win away from home in Congo, but come back in Uyo to pick the Nations Cup ticket. It’s difficult for a few people like you players to carry the weight of 170million Nigerians but I urge you to please carry it and make Nigerians proud again, because we want to defend our title early next year”, he declared.
He announced that the Federation President, Pinnick, will be with the team before it jets out to Congo to deliver a special message to the team on Thursday. The team applauded his presentation and promised that they will not disappoint Nigeria in the qualifiers against Congo and South Africa.
Expectedly, the team will round off training session for the duel against the Red Devils of Congo in Abuja on Thursday morning, again it will take place at the Package B of the Abuja National Stadium, before the team jets out to Congo on Thursday night.
Among many faithfuls who watched the team trained yesterday was National U23 Head Coach, Samson Siasia (Sia 1), his assistant Fatai Amoo, Team Cooprdinator, Aniete Ukoh and NFF Executive Committee member, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu.
Siasia and Anyansi-Agwu, said they have absolute believe in the Super Eagles to pick the available ticket for the Nations Cup. Before then, there have been visit by former Super Eagles Captain and Coach, Austin ‘Cerezo’ Eguavoen, Taribo West and a horde of former national team players in a renewed bid to shore up the support base of the national team technical crew ahead of a decisive week for the Super Eagles.
