The National Emergency Agency (NEMA) has confirmed four persons dead in the explosion that rocked a Divisional Police Station in Yola, Adamawa State Thursday morning.
Already, rescuers have evacuated four bodies to mortuary while over 20 injured victims are being attended to at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
Most of the victims of the explosion are said to be police personnel.
However, a security source told PRNigeria that: “The explosion is likely caused by accidental discharge due to mishandling of explosive devises by security personnel within the police station.
“For now we are not suspecting terrorism for the explosion as the security agencies are currently investigating the remote cause of the incident.”
It was further gathered that the reason for public panic was as the result of the location of the Police station which is located in a strategic commercial area surrounded by a market, school, Prison Yard, Post Office and a TV station.
