Alhaji Wakili Boya, the newly turbaned Youth Leader (Sarkin Matasa) of Adamawa Emirate Council, has disbursed scholarships to 100 students in Malabu District of Fufore Local Government.
Presenting the money to the beneficiaries in Malabu on Wednesday, the Coordinator, Wakili Boya Scholarship Scheme, Alhaji Saidu Sali, said the gesture was to assist indigent students in the area.
“The gesture is also to complement the state government’s declaration of a state of emergency on education.
“This is the third district this scholarship has been extended to in the emirate, bringing the number of beneficiaries to 300.”
He said that the beneficiaries in Malabu district comprised 38 students pursuing degree programmes and 62 diploma students.
Sali said that each of the degree students received N20,000 while the diploma Programme got N10,000 each.
Speaking at the occasion, the District Head of Malabu, Alhaji Aliyu Hammawa, lauded Boya for the gesture and advised the beneficiaries to be diligent in their studies.
Hammawa cautioned the youths on the dangers of drug abuse and other social vices that could derail their education.
