Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday signed the N7.441 trillion 2017 Appropriation Bill into law.
The budget was signed at about 16.41 hours as approved by the National Assembly.
Present at the signing ceremony were Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremamdu and principal officers of the National Assembly.
Others were Chief of Staff to the President Mr. Abba Kyari, deputy chief of staff staff Ade Ikpaye, head of the civil service of the federation Winifired Oyo-Ita, ministers, acting secretary to the government of the federation, Habiba Lawal.
Recall that Senior Presidential Media Aide, Garba Shehu, had released a statement few hours to the signing, saying Buhari had authorised the Acting President to sign the budget.
“Following the receipt of a full brief on the 2017 Appropriation Bill as passed by the National Assembly, and to buttress the unity at the highest level of government, President Muhammadu Buhari has indicated that it is in the interest of the nation’s economy for the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to sign the Appropriation Bill into law,” Shehu had stated.
