ABUJA – A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stop forthwith the ongoing process to recall Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi west senatorial district.
Justice Tsoho gave the order on Thursday in a short ruling in an application filled by the embattled Senator.
Prompt News recalls that Melaye’s constituents had a couple of weeks ago collected over 188 thousand signatures of registered voters and submitted same to INEC to commence the recall process.
But, in an experte motion, counsel to the Senator, Mike Ozekhome, prayed the court to stop INEC from going ahead with the process pending the hearing of his originating summons
While adjourning the suit till September 29, 2017, Justice Tsoho ordered the Electoral body to keep the exercise on hold for now.
