Alhaji Gazali Abubakar has been elected as the new chairman of the Bauchi golf and country club.
The outgoing Chairman, Bauchi Golf and Country Club, Prof. Edigba Ogbo, said his executive council left N2.4 million in the coffers of the club.
Ogbo, said this on Saturday while handing over the mantle of leadership to the newly elected chairman of the club, Alhaji Gazali Abubakar, at the Gubi Golf Course, Bauchi.
He disclosed that he was leaving over N1.99 million in Sub-Account and N409, 000 in the main account of the club.
He narrated how he took over the club in 2013 with only 10 members, but now leaving the club when its membership had increased to 26.
He said that, in spite of challenges faced by his administration in the last six years, his exco was able to draw up a constitution as guiding principle for the club.
He also added that they constructed the club’s secretariat and a golf course.
The outgoing chairman urged the incoming members of the executive council to improve on the facilities handed over to them.
He called on the state government and individuals to assist the club to enable it improve on its infrastructure and facilities.
The new Chairman of the club, Alhaji Ghazali Abubakar, commended the former leaders over the “giant strides”made during their tenure.
Abubakar, a former Bauchi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, promised to embark on fencing of the golf course to prevent trespass.
He attributed the increase in membership of the club as another giant stride recorded by the outgoing officials
Alhaji Yau Ali, Sara Godwin, Moses Ogbo, Matina Sale and Abubakar Abdulkadir were elected and sworn-in as the Vice Captain, Lady Captain, Secretary, Treasurer and Financial Secretary respectively.
Others are Danlami Mohammed, Course officer; Usman Abubakar, Caddie Master; Ibrahim Abubakar, Caddie Officer; Ezra Musa, Competition Secretary and Jibrin Aliyu, Internal Auditor.
The rest are Dr Aliyu Tilde and Gen. Junedu Bindawa who were sworn-in as Chairman and member of Board of Trustees respectively.
