The management of Abubakar Bukola Saraki, ABS Football Club of Ilorin has issued a notice of withdrawal of its players from debtor clubs owing to non payment of transfer fees for the affected players.
The club has also appealed to the League Management Company (LMC) and the Nigeria National League (NNL) to immediately effect the stoppage of the players from playing for the clubs until payments are made.
A statement issued by the club on Monday in Ilorin and signed by the club’s Administrative Secretary, Funmilayo Owolabi said the withdrawal of the players became necessary in view of the inability of the affected club to abide by the transfer agreement entered into with the club before the players were released.
She said the directive to effect the withdrawal was taken after a meeting of the club management which discussed extensively the huge debt owed the club by various teams, which is affecting the financial position of the club.
The statement further mentioned some of the players and the affected clubs to include Abdulrahman Bashir and Zenke Thomas (Enyimba), Stone Evbounwan (Dolphin), Ichull Lordson (Warri Wolves), Ismaila Suleiman (Bayelsa utd), Jonah Usman (Rangers), Idris Aloma (Elkanemi), Yau Hassan (Heartland),. Sala Abiodun (COD), Onigbari Akeem and Abubakar Yusuf (kwara utd), Shola Lawal (Crown). Seun Sogbesan (Nasarawa utd) Ayo Abdullahi and Omolayo Ibrahim (Niger Tornadoes) amongst others.
Meanwhile, Prompt News gathered ABS is being owed about N30 million by the various clubs.
It would be recalled that over 90% of the players of the club left for greener pastures after the club got relegated to the NNL last season.
