The swearing-in of Mr. Uche Ogah as the new Governor of Abia state was stalled on Friday morning owing to the absence of the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Theresa Uzoukwu.
Ogah had arrived Umuahia, the state capital, hoping to be sworn-in as directed by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Prompt News Online recalls that Justice Okon Abang had on Monday, nullified the election of Mr. Okezie Ikpeazu, as the Governor of Abia State.
The Judge also ordered that Mr. Ogah, who came second at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries in December 2014, be issued a Certificate of Return and sworn-in immediately.
Justice Abang had held that the tax papers presented by Mr. Ikpeazu ahead of the primaries were fake and thus not qualified him to contest the primaries.
Consequent upon this, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday issued Mr. Ogah a Certificate of Return in compliance with the Court order.
On the same day, Mr. Ikpeazu obtained an ex parte injunction issued by Justice C. H. Ahuchaogu of the state High Court, Osisioma, restraining the Chief Judge from swearing in Ogah.
The Governor also went ahead to declare Friday and Monday public holidays to mourn the death of a former Minister, Ojo Madueke.
