Plateau Command of Nigeria Police said it had deployed 2, 100 personnel for special patrol across the state to ensure a hitch-free Eid-El-Maulud.
Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO) in the state, DSP Terna Tyopev, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Jos.
He said that the deployment was to avert any break down of law and order and provide environment conducive for the celebration.
Tyopev said that the deployed personnel were 121 senior officers, 387 Inspectors, 1,520 Rank and File and 72 Traffic Wardens.
“This became necessary because protection of lives and property through effective vehicular and foot patrols during the period is our utmost concern,’’ he said.
He said that the command had placed ban on any form of procession and use of fireworks during the celebration, adding that anyone caught would be made to face the law.
Tyopev advised members of the public to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement within their vicinities to security agencies.
He also advised vehicle owners to take stringent measures in protecting their vehicles against theft.
