By Gracious Akujobi Former Super Eagles chief Coach, Samson Siasia is of the view that Villareal FC of Spain striker, Ike Uche remains the best striker in Nigeria in recent times and so deserves to be at the world cup in Brazil.
In a chat with Prompt News Online in Abuja, Siasia advised head coach, Stephen Keshi to forget whatever happened at the Nations Cup in South Africa and bring back the player who has been in superlative performance in his club.
Keshi , has shut out the player from the team since the team returned from the Nations cup in South Africa, even though Ike has scored ten goals in the current league season helping his club to a very comfortable position in the Spanish La Liga.
But Siasia says the ‘Big Boss’ as Keshi is fondly called should have a rethink irrespective of whatever difference they may have.
“Ike Uche has been a goal scorer right from time; I think he has soared more goals than any player right now. What happened at the Nations cup should not be a hindrance for the coach to see a great scorer like that and ignore him.
“I think Keshi should give him another chance because aside from Emenike, I don’t see any player that scores like Ike Uche.
He is better than these strikers we are parading now which is why I think Keshi should give him another chance”
On the chances of some home based players breaking into the world cup bound team with their performance at the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) Siasia, says was a great opportunity for them to prove to the coach that they are good enough to be taken to the world cup.
“If they show themselves that they are good enough Nigerians will fight for them. It is now left for them to do well in this CHAN to prove themselves”.
