Alhaji Hazakilu Kore, the Chairman of National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Jigawa chapter has reiterated the commitment of the group to uphold the professional values and ethics of the profession.
Kore stated this during the 1st Scientific Conference of NANNM approved by the Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) on Tuesday in Dutse.
He said that the conference was aimed at creating and sustaining a shift towardgiving a new look to nursing profession.
The chairman explained that members of the association wanted to use the occasion to brainstorm on the task of shift duty and task sharing among health workers and non health workers in communities in the state.
He added that it was incumbent on health professionals to share medical scientific responsibilities among professionals with a view to achieving improved healthcare delivery in the society.
He commended the Jigawa Government for creating enabling environment for nurses to do their work effectively.
He said that the present administration had cleared the backlog of salaries and arrears of nurses for the 2013 to 2017, which was a carryover of the liability left by the immediate past government.
Alhaji Inuwa Tahir, the Jigawa Head of Service, who was represented by the acting Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Alhaji Isa Dallah, said that the state government was committed to providing quality healthcare delivery to the people.
He explained that the present state government under Gov. Muhammad Badaru, built two health institutions — School of Nursing Hadejia and School of Midwifery Babura in addition to the existing College of Nursing and Midwifery in Birnin Kudu.
