It is not every time that two Angels clash in a battle of supremacy. This is the more reason all roads will lead to Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa state on Tuesday where the stage is set for the big fight.
The cause of the fight is the 2018 AITEO Cup final which Rivers Angels and Ibom Angels will contest for at Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa to determine who is the Champions of the Nigeria Football Association Cup sponsored by AITEO Group Plc.
Rivers Angels are the defending champions while Ibom Angels were Runners up last year.
Lovers of good football and Women’s football followers will not regret going out to watch the match live at the stadium because both clubs are parading the best players in the Nigerian domestic football at the moment.
What with the large army of Super Falcons and Falconets players paraded by both teams, the fans will get the full value for their money and the time they spend at the stadium will not be in vein.
Rivers Angels will unleash bulk of the Super Falcons invitees including goalkeepers- Tochukwu Oluchi and Chiamaka Nnadozie who did very well for Nigeria’s Falconets in the recent FIFA U 20 Women’s World Cup final in France.
She will start in goal for Coach Edwin Okon tutored team. Others are Chioma Wogu, Cecilia Nku, Alice Ogebe, Chioma Wogu, Rafiat Sule, Cynthia Aku and skipper Evelyn Nwabuoku.
For Ibom Angels, captain and Super Falcons player, Glory Ogbonna will anchor the defence of the Orange Girls which has fleet-footed Emem Essien who banged in a hattrick in the semi final stage against Edo Queens in Owerri.
Coincidentally, this reporter cordinated the matches in which the two clubs emerged tops. I was the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Center Cordinator at Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri where Ibom Angels defeated Edo Queens to qualify for the final while I was also the NFF Center Cordinator at Lafia City Stadium, Nasarawa State where Rivers Angels beat other clubs in the Group stage to March on in the competition.
I therefore urge football fans to come out in large numbers to Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa to see great football artistry which these two clubs will produce and in large quantities too. But those who are not opportuned to be in Yenagoa to see good must not miss the action on television.
After the final I am very optimistic Nigerians will not but agree that NFF and Nigeria have grown Women’s football beyond what obtains in other African nations.
Let the Fireworks start in Yenagoa.
