Educated herdsman will prefer ranching – Gov Umahi

            By Godwin Okeh, Abakaliki

The governor of Ebonyi state Chief David Umahi on Wednesday has said that
educated herdsman will prefer to do ranching than to be in the Bush.

Umahi made this known while addressing the National Defence College Course 27 participants during a courtesy visit at the exco-chambers government House, Abakaliki

“Our law is such that parents who allow their children to be hocking at school hours will be arrested and tried. We also ban herdsmen from allowing their children to be roaring caw at school hours, unless they are accompanied by their parents but not during school hours.

“I believe that educated herdsman will prefer to do ranching than to be in the Bush. This is what we are doing to ensure that the Herdsmen and traders are all educated. Our people like trading and while you are trading, you must acquire basic education.

“Some of our youths that are into cultism are evil. Some of them are very talented but as a nation, we shouldn’t eat the future of our youths.

“Governance is thrown to the dustbin and it has lots of implications. This is because if we don’t secure the future of our youths, our evening will not be smooth.

“No matter the position we are occupying today, one day we must leave it for our youths, and so whatever one sows is what he/she will reap.

“I advocate that leadership of this country should do everything possible to lower the tempo of politics. And look more into securing the future of our youths. This is very important and this will help our nation. People are aspiring to get into power, not to help the nation and the people but only to answer name and to steal money.

“If I were God, I will say that people who don’t have handiwork should not come to leadership. You must have something doing before coming to leadership. People who never saw 1million now wants to control billions”

The governor also alleged that Nigeria’s future and unity are solely dependent on the way the nations security Chiefs handles the forthcoming 2019 general election.

“We need your prayers for 2019, even though i  have continued to say that the future of this country are in the hands of the Nigerian security and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

“If the security agencies and INEC wants us to continue as one nation, is all about 2019. Security men need to be neutral and the moment the neutrality is not there, the civilians will learn how to defend themselves.

“Whenever those who suppose to defend the people, now turn against them, the people must learn how to defend themselves. Tell our security Chiefs that the future of Nigeria is in their hands”he stated.
