The Commissioner stated that since the State’s citizens are operating in various contexts, Public Affairs Officers must evolve strategies to use information at their disposal efficiently and effectively in order to enhance the dissemination of information to the populace.

In his words, “The State’s information apparatus must consistently be focused on the enduring programmes and policies of the State government, envisage challenges and develop news properly into a concept that will add value to the progress of the society”.

Bamigbetan averred that the society develops its perception of the government based on the information available to them and the citizens could only have the right attitude towards the government and abide with its regulations when they understand and appreciate its policies and programmes.

He added that in order to adequately educate and inform citizens about the programmes and activities of the State, the government information machinery must improve its social media presence.

The Commissioner revealed that the State government is in the process of unfolding strategies channel to ensure residents get instant and accurate information that will enable them to appreciate the giant strides government is taking towards achieving the Smart City goals.

While imploring Public Affairs Officers to always be instinctive in their duties, Bamigbetan stated that information officers in the State’s employment must develop an engaging system to expand the vehicle of information and promote the value of positivity among the citizens of the State.

“Information managers are required to establish an intelligible and functional concept which must be executed to reflect the position of the government in improving the lives of its people’’, he stated.

Addressing the gathering earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mrs. Kofoworola Awobamise implored officers to reinvent the wheel of progressive and functional government through their duties.
