ABUJA – Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has called for an independent judicial panel of inquiry into the assault on the National Assembly by masked gunmen.
Saraki, in a tweet on his personal @bukolasaraki handle, said: “The very serious questions about last Tuesday’s siege on the National Assembly can only be answered through a thorough and neutral investigation.
“I call on Mr. President to immediately institute an independent judicial panel of inquiry to look into that assault on our democracy.”
Prompt News Online reports that operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, on Tuesday, August 7, invaded the national assembly complex in the early hours and prevented Senators, House of Reps members and staff from entering the premises for hours.
The outrage from well-meaning Nigerians, civil society organisations and international community prompted the sack of the erstwhile DSS Boss, Lawal Daura by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
