Two men — Yahaya Danjuma and Yunisa Momodu — were on Wednesday remanded in Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, for allegedly robbing a woman of money and other valuables worth N183,200.
An Apapa Magistrates’ Court gave the order that Danjuma, 26, and Momodu, 28, should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The duo was brought to court on a six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, being in possession of dangerous weapons and armed robbery.
Police Prosecutor Augustine Ejembi had told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 3 at 9.30 p.m. at Iyalode Street, Ajegunle, Apapa.
He said the duo who was armed with some dangerous weapons, robbed the complainant, Khadija Umar, of her money and other valuables.
“The accused had threatened to hack the accused to death if she refused to cooperate.
“They also puffed cigarette smoke into her eyes so that she will not be able to identify them,” he said.
She was robbed of N165,000, a Techno phone, a rechargeable lighter, totalling N183,200, according to the prosecutor.
The offences violated Sections 45, 51, 173, 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olaitan Ajayi, adjourned the case until Aug. 9 for DPP’s advice.
