The Reconciliation Committee approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Oyo State chapter is billed to meet with aggrieved party members in Abuja, Monday afternoon after the inauguration of the 36 States and FCT chairmen.
The meeting with the aggrieved members of the party is aimed at finding a lasting solution to the lingering crisis in the party.
However, it was gathered that the committee is neither for harmonization of any executive lists nor for any posts sharing.
It was put in place following the approval of the congresses superintended by the committees assigned by the National Headquarters of the party for the state to engender greater peace and progress in the party
The Congresses Committees supervised congresses in the approved centres at the various levels across the state culminating with the state congress held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamashingba, Ibadan which produced Chief Akin Oke as the new Chairman of the party for Oyo State.
According to the mandate of the committee, headed by Senator Lawan Shuaibu, the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), it will meet with the arrowheads of the aggrieved members that reportedly held another congress at the Liberty Stadium; the newly elected state executive committee members and the State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on Monday.
According to an inside source at the APC Headquarters, the committee has no mandate whatsoever to harmonize any list of executive or share the positions which had already been approved by the NWC.
“It is purely a reconciliation committee put in place to reconcile the warring members with the newly elected state executive committee of the party and by extension the leader of the party in the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi. The committee is not for harmonizing or sharing of any post at any level; be it ward, local government or state.”
A member of the committee who spoke on condition of anonymity was however upbeat on the assignment expressing optimism that the committee had mapped out “ some strategies’ that would make the reconciliation successful.
Already, a number of the aggrieved leaders are already reaching out to the State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and the state chairman, Chief Akin Oke retracing their steps into the mainstream of the party.
A frontline governorship aspirant from Oyo North Senatorial District whose name appeared on both the Unity Forum list and that of the party list as a National Delegate has already sent a delegation to the governor regretting ever supporting and “ donating huge sum of money “ to the group.
