By Gracious Akujobi Three states have declared interest to host the 2016 edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF).
The states are Plateau, Oyo and Edo, each assuring that it has all it takes to accommodate expected contingents as well as provide the needed facilities for the games.
Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi who disclosed this on Monday however, asked the three states that have declared interest to host the biennial sports event to formally submit their bids.
Meanwhile, the extra-ordinary meeting of the National Sports Council held in Abuja has commended the National Sports Commission for successfully hosting the first edition of the National Youth Games and urged the Commission to build on the successes recorded in the maiden edition
The communiqué issued at the end of the meeting also appreciated all states that presented teams at the maiden edition of the National Youth Games for being part of history and a new beginning in grassroots development on Nigeria
Council also approved the reviewed National sports festival general rules and regulation 2014, noted the need for the review of the National Sports policy in line with chapter 5 of the policy, as well as the establishment of a Sports Information Management System (SIMS) by the National Sports Commission.
In the same vein, Council approved November 23-7 December,2014 as the date for the 19th edition of the National Sports Festival “Paradise Games 2014”.
