Golden Eaglets’ Head coach, Manu Garba, has been commended for his meritorious contribution to the development of Nigerian football by erstwhile chairman of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Galadima.
The charismatic administrator was full of praises for Manu when the NFF delegation to Kano led the record-breaking victorious Golden Eaglets to his modest home in Faggae Area on Tuesday. He said Manu is a leading light amongst indigenous coaches even as he counseled the Golden Eaglets about their future lives.
“I’m particularly happy about what Manu have been able to achieve in his coaching career and I’m really proud about the fact that he was able to fulfil the promise to win the World Cup before the team’s departure,” said Galadima, who handed a special gift pack to Manuafterwards.
“I’m given you this as a token of appreciation for a job well done in the UAE and I wish you success in future endeavours.”
Galadima later canvassed for the elevation of Manu to the Under-20 level as well as marshalling a master plan for the World Cup-winning team. He said it was incumbent on the NFF to protect the players against the exploitative tendencies of Sherlock agents while equally advising the players to combine education with their fledging careers.
“I want to congratulate the entire team for the successful campaign but while we bask in the euphoria, we should be concerned about the future of these youngsters,” noted Galadima.” Frankly, I want a proviso of allowing these boys to combine schooling inserted into any
professional contact with foreign clubs because having education would put them in good stead.”
Meanwhile, Galadima believes the board of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under Aminu Maigari should be given a fresh mandate to consolidate on their impressive performances
particularly in the outgoing Year 2013.
