President of the Senate, David Mark has described the late House of Representatives’ member from Ondo state, Raphael Nomiye as a committed legislator whose forthright contributions to the advancement of democracy would be missed.
Senator Mark in a condolence message to the Speaker, House of Representatives Aminu Waziri Tambuwal , the Government and People of Ondo State, said Nomiye departed when his services were most needed.
The Senate President noted that late Nomiye was a vibrant legislator and an astute politician who was concerned about the well being of the ordinary citizen.
According to Mark, “He was an asset to the National Assembly. He was a dependable ambassador to the people of Ondo state. He believed and worked for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
“We shall miss his robust contributions to national debate. We shall miss his frank and nationalistic dispositions. We shall miss his candour and humour “.
Senator who later signed the condolence register at the National Assembly, added that late Nomiye left his positive footprint on the sand of time.
On resumption for plenary on Tuesday, the Senate suspended the day’s sitting in honour of Nomiye.
