A chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Arthur Eze has accused Governor Peter Obi of rigging the controversial November 16 governorship election in Anambra state.
Eze, a business mogul while speaking with State House correspondents shortly after holding a closed door meeting with Vice President Namadi Sambo, alleged that Governor Obi rigged the election against the poor.
According to him, the rigging was perfected to ensure that the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) continue to rule Anambra state.
The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election which was marred by irregularities inconclusive. It also announced that a supplementary election would n=be conducted at a later date.
Meanwhile, the results announced show that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Williams Obiano led the poll, followed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chris Ngige and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),Tony Nwoye.
Eze said “Obi committed a crime and rigged election against the poor people and brought his man, Obiano. For 8 years, there were no longer local government elections in Anambra, now he brought Obiano, his treasurer to take over from him.
“Now, Obiano will spend 8 years and bring somebody then, we are in trouble. It’s for the poor, not for me, the needy, the orphan, not me I am an old man, I am going. It’s because of the poor that I am crying.
“Go and pray. What is going to happen in Anambra will happen in so many places. Pray for yourselves, not for us, we are gone, we are aged. I don’t want criminals to take over in 2015 that is why I am crying.” he said.
