The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN FCT chapter has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and indeed all Nigerians on the Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
A statement by FCT SWAN Secretary, Martin Odiete reads, “The Super Eagles, also reigning African champions, became the first African country to book the 2014 FIFA World Cup ticket when they trashed Ethiopia 2-0 in Calabar on Saturday with Victor Moses and Victor Obinna Nsofor both registering their names on the scorers sheet.
“SWAN praises the determination of the players and coaches of the Super Eagles which they displayed right from the Nations Cup in South Africa, the NFF and the Federal Government through the National Sports Commission (NSC) for providing enabling environment and Nigerians for their resolute support for the team throughout the period.
“SWAN notes the steady rise of the Super Eagles under the Aminu Maigari-led NFF board and calls on the Federal Government to ensure early preparation for Brazil 2014”.
