By Harry Awurumibe Apparently to maximize their time in Nigeria, the visiting Zambian senior national team, the Chipolopolo trained Thursday morning in Abuja ahead of their afternoon flight to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
The team which touched down in Nigeria’s capital city on Thursday, checked into the hotel in Abuja and sensing that they will not depart to the match venue until in the afternoon today, the Wedson Nyerinda tutored team decide to have their first training session in Nigeria at the FIFA Goal Project located at the Package B of the ultra modern Abuja National Stadium.
Nyerinda who now has the full complement of his players drilled the team on the synthetic pitch although the Winner-Takes- All match will take place at the lush green pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday.
Nigeria with 10 points is seating pretty well in the driver’s seat in the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 African qualifiers Group B while Zambia has 7 points to place second even as the winner on Saturday automatically qualifies for the Mundial.
Expectedly, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have since Tuesday made Uyo their nest and the Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr and his assistants have been drilling the foreign Armada invited to beat the loquacious Zambians who have been boasting all over the place that they will defeat the Nigerians.
Nigeria had in the first game of the African qualifying series beatn Zambia 2-1 in Ndola right in the presence of the Zambian President who was glued to his seat minutes after the match ended in Zambia.
