ABUJA – Disturbed by allegation of insubordination levelled against the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Baru Maikanti, by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, the Senate has constituted an Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the feud between the duo.
The Ad-hoc committee named at plenary on Wednesday, will be chaired by Senator Aliyu Wammako.
To serve as members are: Senators Rose Ojo, Kabiru Marafa, Bashir Babakaka, Albert Akpan, Chukwuka Utazi and Tayo Alasoadura.
Prompt News recalls that Minister Kachikwu, had in a confidential Memo to President Muhammadu Buhari, accused the NNPC GMD, Maikanti Baru of insubordination in the last one year.
However, the memo has been leaked to the media in a controversial circumstance that the MInister described as “distressing”.
He specifically appealed to President Buhari to order cancellation of the recent key appointments made by Mr. Baru, which he claimed was done without his knowledge as the chairman of the NNPC Board.
However, the NNPC GMD is yet to issue any statement regarding the accusation.
