ADO-EKITI – Youths in the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ekiti State, under the aegis of Ekiti APC Youths Congress (EAYC) have backed call by the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party, Chief Segun Oni that both Prince Dayo Adeyeye, National Publicity Secretary of the Ahmed Markafi-led National Working Committee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), and Senator Biodun Olujimi, Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Senate, who are gubernatorial aspirants on PDP’s platform in Ekiti State should defect to the APC to realize their governorship ambition.
Reacting to Oni’s comment that Adeyeye and Olujimi should join APC to realize their gubernatorial ambition, the APC youths said in a press statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, and jointly signed by Mr Tope Ogunkuade and Comrade Tunji Adeleye, Convener and Secretary respectively, that APC was in need of quality people in the Southern Senatorial district to fly its flag in the 2018 election.
The youths said they remained resolute in their opposition to the governorship aspiration of Segun Oni, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Senator
Babafemi Ojudu and others from the North and Central senatorial districts, maintaining that it was the turn of the South to produce
the governor of the State.
They pointed out it was obvious that the APC does not have quality people in the South senatorial district that can compete with the
Deputy Governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola, who has been endorsed as the PDP candidate. The EAYC said it was necessary for the likes of Adeyeye and Olujimi to be wooed into the APC as suggested by Segun Oni, so that either of them can be presented as the party candidate.
The APC youths noted that since the PDP has picked its candidate from the South, APC must also pick its candidate from the same zone and
since there appears not to be strong politician from the South in our party, there is nothing wrong in bringing either Olujimi or Adeyeye,
just as the PDP wooed Senator Ademola Adeleke from the APC and handed him the party’s ticket.
