As the governorship election of Anambra state draws closer, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is putting in place necessary measures to ensure a hitch-free poll.
Consequently, INEC as part of the measures is dedicating a telephone line to intending voters in the November 16, 2013, governorship election in the state.
According to Kayode Idowu, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega, information on polling unit and whether or not they are in the Register of Voters, before or on Election Day can be obtained.
“Such intending voters, Mr. Idowu said are to type the name of the state, their surname, and the last five or six digits of their Voter Identification Number (VIN) displayed on the voter’s card and send as SMS to 0817 164 6879.
“The format again is: <State><Surname><last 5 or 6 digits of VIN> (e.g., Anambra Idowu 12345) to 0817 164 6879.
The Commission hopes this service will ease the voting experience in the impending election,” he stated.
