By Gracious Akujobi The IBB Golf and Country Club, Abuja, came alive over the weekend as Shell Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) sponsored a golf tournament.
Managing Director of SNEPCo, Onyejekwe alongside Chief Of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba and Fidel Pepple, representing the Group Managing Director of NNPC teed off the competition which had 103 golfers vying for the coveted trophies.
“The essence of this sponsorship is to bring together golfers across the country Onyejekwe told Prompt News Online.
“From what has happened today , you can see that this has become a major event that will make the annual calendar of the IBB Golf”
“We will measure our succcess, challenges and learn from it before we can step into a new direction” Onyejekwe stated.
The MD of SNEPCo said Shell Nigeria and its partners are looking forward to raising the stakes in the annual golf event by opening it up for both professional and amateur golfers.
He thanked the golfers from various parts of the country and management of the IBB golf club for making the tournament a success.
At the end of a day of fierce golfing, Chris Shaiyen emerged the overall winner with an impressive 7 under course par.
The 15 handicapper posted a nett sore of 65. Nasiru Gombe won the Shell category, while Richard Chioba and Flavia Namakula shot 282.7m and 228m to win the longest drive in the men’s and ladies categories respectively.
