Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, is leading six other state governors to visit ailing President Muahmmadu Buahri in London.
This was confirmed by Presidential Media Adviser, Femi Adesina, who briefed State House correspondents Tuesday evening alongside his colleague, Garba Shehu.
Other Governors in the delegation are: Umar Ganduje of Kano, Kashim Shettima, Borno and Samuel Ortom of Benue, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo as well as two PDP governors – Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom and his Ebonyi counterpart, David Umahi.
“The delegation is being led the governor of Zamfara State, who is the chairman of the Governors’ Forum.
“They will leave by tonight (Tuesday) and arrive the U.K. early (Wednesday) and will have 3pm meeting tomorrow,” he said.
Asked why Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, who has been critical of the President’s ill health is not in the delegation, Adesina, responded thus:
“The selection was by the governors’ forum and you will see that the delegation is headed by governor Yari who is chairman of that forum. So that question should go to the forum.”
Garba Shehu also spoke further on the visit, “The visit is a goodwill visit and there is nothing more than that. I believe Nigerians in various position have yarn to go meet the president and at some point this obviously has not been permitted.
“But given the change in circumstances you can see that is coming from London itself and from the president is welcoming. Is a goodwill visit.
“As a cultural people we visit people leaving hospital and I’m sure the president himself will be delighted to see people coming six geo-political zones, coming to convey the goodwill of Nigerians.
