The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, George Uriesi, has been elected Vice President of Airports Council International (ACI), Africa Region.
His election took place during the 22nd annual general assembly of ACI in Lome, Togo. Mr. Uriesi is to work with Mr. Paschal Komla from Togo who had served as Acting President of ACI for three years before his election as President at the last assembly.
The tenure of the recently elected executive will be for three years, FAAN General Manager, Corporate Communications, Yakubu Dati said.
Elections also took place into executive positions of the working groups of ACI Africa, which provides advice and input on behalf of the region to the world body on relevant and current issues. At the moment, ACI Africa has four working groups; Economic and Environment, Safety and Technical, Security and Facilitation and Human Resources.
The 2013 annual Conference and Exhibition of ACI Africa Region was held at Lome in Togo from 21st to 23rd of October 2013 with very impressive turnout of participants from all over Africa and beyond.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) maintained a very colourful exhibition stand which played host to a good number of visitors during the conference. FAAN maximized the opportunity of that conference and exhibition to showcase the numerous remodeling works that are ongoing at the airports.
