One of the leading Golf Clubs in Nigeria, the IBB international Golf and Country Club, Abuja, now has a new Lady Captain for its Ladies section.
She is 52-year-old Grace Ihonvbere, wife of Professor Julius Ihonvbere.
A graduate of Banking and Finance from University of Toronto, Canada, Grace Ihonvbere succeeded Lami Ahmed at an election held on Saturday at the IBB international Golf and country Club, Abuja.
Speaking shortly after the election, the President of the Ihonvbere Foundation promised to join hands with other elected officers to move the club forward.
“As a matriarch of Benin Golf Club Ladies Section and the first to sponsor an all female team to the MTN world Golf event, am more than prepared to lead the Ladies section of this club to greater height
“I have designed lots of programmes that both ladies and members of this great club will not only enjoy but that will also improve their game”, she said.
Among programmes listed for her one year tenure includes, monthly Birthday Kitty, Charity Golf tournament, Local and international Golf competition, Veteran Tournament, Past Captains and Lady Captains tournament as well as foreign embassies versus IBB club competition.
Others are Children Summer Golf Development, Ladies Development Clinic, Ladies Open and Close tournament, Caddies and staff tournament as well as Crazy Golf event.
While congratulating Former Lady Captain, Lami Ahmed for a successful tenure, she solicited for support from ladies and other members of the club during her one year in office.
Grace Ihonvbere was among the officers elected at the 2017 Annual General meeting of the Club held on Saturday at the IBB international Golf and country club, Abuja.
